Psalm 150

What a beautiful finish to the book of Psalms.
The simplicity and grandeur of the message….praise God.

Praise God with whatever musical instrument you have, whatever comes to hand…
drums…guitar…loud cymbals!

Just praise Him.

No matter what…no matter when…no matter with who…just praise Him.

Zook gets a UHF

(Warning…may be boring for those not interested in cars!)

I did say on my last car related post that the next modification would likely be a UHF…..and so it is.
I attended the Perth 4WD show in hope of getting a inexpensive UHF…and I did. Spoke to the manager at the Malz stand and we struck up a deal.
I wanted the Uniden UH7700NB and a good 6.5db antenna. The UHF was cheap enough at $250, but the antenna was the most expensive one they had at $129 (Uniden AT870). The manage sold them to me as a package at $270, so I was pretty happy with that.

The 2006 onwards Grand Vitaras have a nice little flick open coin slot. I needed to take apart the dash to get it out, but it was not too difficult. Then I cut out a decent section of the back panel on the slot which allowed the UHF to fit in there and the flip open lid to shut.

I needed to buy a special bracket to fit on the oversize standard Suzuki Nudge Bar so I could mount the antenna. But I think it looks pretty neat and is certainly strong.

With Melinda and the family driving across the Nullarbor and sometimes traveling with friends off-road, this will be a great tool.

Not being ‘that person’

Have you ever had a conversation with someone when you walked away and realised you knew a lot about them, but they hardly even knew your name? Some people are what relational experts call ‘egocentric’. Their world really does revolve around themself. We all know people like this, and they annoy us.

How do we not be that person? Growing up attending Youth Group training, one relational tool my Youth Pastor gave me was FBI. It stood for ‘Family, Business, Interests”. He said that when you met someone new, ask them about these three areas. Most people love talking about themself, and it can be really interesting for you as well. They might even ask you about you…and you might make a friend. Either way…you wont be ‘that person’.

Isaiah 40.3

Listen, its the voice of someone shouting….

Clear the way through the wilderness for the Lord

Make a straight highway through the wasteland….

For our God!

The voice of John the Baptist, the voice of the prophet…Make way in your heart for God. Clear the wasteland, remove the shrubbery…the things that clutter your mind and your heart. Mark a way for God to come. Mark it with lights….make it clear…make the path easy for the King of Kings to come marching in.

Make it obvious you want Him to come…to flood your heart…for the River to flow into those dry parts, those parts you have hidden from the Spirit..those parts which are dry, red raw….neglected…that you know God needs to come and bring healing too…but from which you have hidden from Him.

Make a way for God to come…not that he could not…but that He wants you to make the path for Him to come through.

Looking forward

At Inglewood Community Church we have established a working team of people looking at possibilities as we desire to build/aquire/modify facilities to have a Performing Arts Centre.
The Land our church owns is almost ready to sell, something I am quite involved in, and the next step for our Church needs to be discovered.

What I am praying for now is that God would honour His name. It is not about our kingdom, it is about His.
Our strong desire is that His name would be lifted high, that many people would come to know joy and life through discovering Jesus. Part of this process is the light of Jesus being shone. We are not meant to hide His light under a bushel. We want to serve our community through the arts, and development of young talent.

I would love you to pray with me, to pray with us, as the team look at our options. Pray God will show us what to do next. Its for Him.

Beware the wounded Docker…

Had another of my articles at The Roar published….
“Perhaps the calvary is still recovering but fans are hoping it may arrive just in time for Fremantle to make a serious dent on this year’s finals. After an injury plagued pre-season, it was expected that the side from the port would have a solid second half to the 2011 season leading into the finals………”
